In Military City, Government Reassurances Are Little
Comfort
Actually the
Congress of the United States of America has a problem called Shutdown, this
problem comes from the U.S government does not have the approved budget of
expenses for the coming year and costs do not cover the costs.
The last Sunday
the Governor of Washington said at conference that the announcement of the
Pentagon about the return of workers to the Defense Department “It’s going to
help, to some degree” during the political shutdown, because several citizens
from Lakewood have been lost their jobs, closed their business and other ones
continue working, uncertain when they might be paid. Above was supported by
Casea Ingels, who is the owner of a company that makes specialty clothing for soldiers
and over the last year has laid off 100 people.
Nanni King, 37 a
nurse who works on the base at the Madigan Army Medical center and her husband,
40 also a nurse said that they only buy the necessary stuff, because they cannot
buy frills, but they are afraid about their economic life could worsen and the
Mrs. King took $20,000 out of her retirement account to create a cash account.
Christine Curren
is a owner of the Moon Coffee said the consequences of this problem in her
business, for example Thursdays used to sell more than other week days and the
last Thursday the sales were strangely lows; consequently I asked to myself if
was the time to close?
Some economists
have warned that the economic recovery will be slow, because this country has
one of the highest housing foreclosure rates in the state during the recession.
Finally Mr. Inslee said at the conference,
spite of the announcement of the Defense Department about its workers, the
Washington National Guard continue struggling with the personal cuts as a
result of the political shutdown; but the citizens say they do not really trust
the promise of the Congress that federal workers will receive back pay and what
they are going to say or do, until they get their paychecks.
I agree with the Pentagon's announcement
about the return of workers to the Defense Department, because United States
has a strong military power and its hegemony depends of it then the situation
of United States would be worse if it continue with the military shutdown;
however the problem of the militia is just one of many problems facing United
States Now the problem does not stop on the unapproved budget and probably on
October 17th could be another problem because that day the deadline for the
U.S to ask for a loan due; consequently
U.S will have just 30.000 million dollars to pay its costs said the Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew.
